Corrugated Box Design
Corrugated Box Manufacturer
Danbury Square Box Company can design, create and customize a corrugated container for your product.
The design of these boxes can range from simple, functional packaging to highly creative, brand-centric promotional packaging.
1. Material Choices
- Single Wall: This is the most common type of corrugated cardboard, consisting of a single layer of fluted cardboard between two liners. It’s used for lightweight products.
- Double Wall: Composed of two layers of fluted cardboard, offering additional strength for heavier or fragile products.
- Triple Wall: For extra heavy-duty applications, with three layers of fluted cardboard, commonly used for bulk or industrial shipping.
2. Structural Design
- Regular Slotted Containers (RSC): A basic design with flaps that fold down over the top and bottom of the box. It’s easy to assemble and cost-effective.
- Die-Cut Boxes: Custom-shaped boxes, made by cutting the corrugated cardboard into any shape or size. These are often used for product packaging or promotions.
- Folder Boxes: A box with a lid that folds down to secure the contents, often used for gift or high-end product packaging.
- Telescopic Boxes: Consist of two parts, one that fits inside the other, often used for large items or products requiring extra protection.
3. Design Features
- Graphics and Branding: Corrugated boxes can feature logos, company branding, product images, and detailed graphics to help communicate the brand identity.
- Text and Information: Important shipping or handling instructions, product details, and even QR codes for scanning can be printed on the surface of the box.
- Color and Print: While most corrugated boxes are brown or kraft, they can be printed in full color using flexographic or lithographic printing techniques. The design can include vibrant colors, text, or patterns.
- Interior Design: The inside of the box can also be printed with patterns or protective features like foam inserts or dividers to secure fragile items.
4. Customization and Innovation
- Eco-Friendly Design: More companies are designing corrugated packaging with sustainable materials, such as recyclable inks, biodegradable options, and minimal packaging.
- Interactive Features: Boxes may include cut-out shapes, interactive design elements (e.g., games or puzzles on the box), or even reusable elements like handles or boxes that convert into something else (e.g., a display stand).
5. Functional Considerations
- Protection: The primary purpose of the box is to protect the contents. Corrugated boxes can be designed with features like padding, inserts, and reinforcements for added security during shipping.
- Ease of Use: Including easy-to-open flaps, perforated tear lines, or even handles for easy transport.
- Stacking: The box design should allow for easy stacking and storage, especially in warehouses or during transportation.
